On April 21, 2007, our church in Londrina had two special events: (1). we hosted the statewide men’s Baptist Fellowship for our churches and (2). we dedicated the properties for our new to the Lord.

Statewide Men’s Fellowship

We arrived at church at 6 AM to serve Breakfast to 120 men that came in three buses from 6 hours away. It was a day of preaching, testimonies, and fellowship. All total there were about 170 men from at least 22 churches that were present for that day long event. To get ready for the day we painted the halls and part of our fellowship hall, we installed three new industrial fans on the walls, bought an industrial stove, and installed two showers. At the end of the day’s program, we loaded up everyone up and went to dedicate the new property.

Dedication of Property for the New Church

At four pm on that day, we loaded all the men up in the three buses and 17 cars and went to the new property. When we arrived near the property, people came out to see what the huge caranava was all about. As we stopped in front of the new property and showed the land to the 170 men, some of our neighbors must have thought that we were squatters invading the property. Someone dumped a toilet on the property, so I told the men that our new property already had a “public bathroom” [i.e., a toilet in the middle of the property with walls. It was very public].

After the 170 men looked the property over, we got them together, share our vision for the church, and had two pastors pray for God’s blessing up this work that will soon be starting. Photos of both events are on our website.

New Church to Start in Six Months

In less than FIVE months, on October 6, 2007 at 7PM we will be starting our next church. Currently, our greatest need is the rent for the first year. Rent in the area is about $225/month for a commercial building. 12 months rent at $225/month is $3,000.00 for the year’s rent. Our goals is to get this church up and growing, then in a few years we will look at building a permanent building for them on land we already have purchased.

We received some special offerings and last week we bought 100 new chairs for the new church. We also received a special offering to build the pulpit and communion table.

We are Ready to Rent a Building for New Work

The next step is to rent a meeting place and start setting up the building. We can rent a building in the area for $3,000.00/year [250.00/month]. Once we get the money in hand we will rent the building. There is a building available across the road from our property that we can get for $2,000.00. If that building is rented before we can sign a contract, the other buildings further away from our church property rent for about $3,000.00/year.
